چکیده

In this paper, we characterize application performance with a "memory-centric" view. Using a simple strategy and performance data measured on actual machines, we model the performance of a simple memory hierarchy and infer the contribution of each level in the memory system to an application's overall cycles per instruction (cpi). Included are results affirming the usefulness of the memory model over several platforms, namely the SGI Origin 2000, SGI PowerChallenge, and the Intel ASCI Red TFLOPS supercomputers. We account for the overlap of processor execution with memory accesses a key parameter, which is not directly measurable on most systems. Given the system similarities between the Origin 2000 and the PowerChallenge, we infer the separate contributions of three major architecture features in the memory subsystem of the Origin 2000: cache size, outstanding loads-under-miss, and memory latency.

The Development of Reading and Operation Span Tasks in Persian as Measures of Working Memory Capacity for Iranian EFL Learners

This paper presented two complex span tasks in Persian as measures of working memory capacity (WMC). Firstly, the construct of working memory (WM) and possible WM measures that could assess this construct efficiently were critically reviewed. Accordingly, as measures of domain-general components of WM, a reading span task and an operation span task which were documented to assess this construct...

O14: Autobiographical Memory, Trauma, and the Development of Memory Interventions

Autobiographical memory, that is, our memory for personal life experiences, is integral to our sense of self. However, the experience of trauma can create distortions in how our memories are bought to mind. In particular, trauma can produce an overgeneral memory style, which relates to the development of both PTSD and depression. However, theory states that immediately following a traumatic eve...

A Message-Passing Distributed Memory Parallel Algorithm for a Dual-Code Thin Layer, Parabolized Navier-Stokes Solver

In this study, the results of parallelization of a 3-D dual code (Thin Layer, Parabolized Navier-Stokes solver) for solving supersonic turbulent flow around body and wing-body combinations are presented. As a serial code, TLNS solver is very time consuming and takes a large part of memory due to the iterative and lengthy computations. Also for complicated geometries, an exceeding number of grid...

The Effects of Spark Training on Visual-Spatial Working Memory Operation in Children with Mental Retardation

Introduction: Mental retarded children who receive a wide range of health services, representing more than two percent of the population. Mental retardation is associated with significant constraints on mental performance and adaptive behavior as well as perceptual and practical skills. According to the studies, one of the important tools that can affect cognitive abilities, such as memory, is ...
